What is a Hotlink?
Hot-melt connection refers to a connection method between non-metal and non-metal, which is heated to a (liquid) melting point after heating. Widely used in PP-R pipe, PB pipe, PE-RT pipe, metal composite pipe, curved elastic aluminum alloy plastic-lined composite pipe system and other new pipes and fittings. In steel structure engineering, two metal reinforcing bars are connected by hot-melt through electric heating equipment. After the metal hot-melt connection, the connection point must be cooled at room temperature to achieve the tensile stress of the original metal material. The hot-melt connection must not be quenched to prevent the carbonization of the contact to become brittle and lose the original metal material's tensile stress parameter. The main hot-melt connections are: hot-melt socket connection and hot-melt butt-weld connection. Hot-melt connection has the advantages of easy connection, long service life, and not easy to corrode.
- In steel structure engineering, two metal reinforcing bars are connected by hot-melt through electric heating equipment. The connection point after metal hot-melt connection must be cooled at normal temperature to achieve the tensile stress of the original metal material. The hot-melt connection must not be quenched, so as to prevent the carbonization of the joints from becoming brittle and losing the tensile stress parameters of the original metal material. Mainly include: hot-melt socket connection and hot-melt butt welding connection [1]
- (1) Pipes and fittings shall be stored in well-ventilated warehouses or simple sheds. They shall not be stored in the open air to prevent direct sunlight. Pay attention to fire safety. The distance from the heat source shall not be less than 1 meter.
- (2) Pipes should be stacked horizontally on a flat ground to avoid bending. The stacking height should not exceed 2.0m. Pipes should be stacked one by one and should not be stacked too high.
- (3) When handling pipes and fittings, be careful to handle them carefully to avoid oil stains. Strict impact, contact with sharp objects and throwing, dropping, rolling, or dragging are strictly prohibited.
- (4) Do not strike pipes and fittings with hard objects, especially at lower temperatures. The pipe must be cut perpendicular to the pipe's axial direction and kept clean and flat.
- (5) Hot-melt connections shall be made in strict accordance with the specified welding depth.
- (6) The hot-melt connection shall be performed strictly in accordance with the specified welding time.
- (7) For hot-melt connection, the maximum deviation angle between the pipes and fittings must not exceed 5 degrees.
- (8) When the pipe is bent, the bending radius must not be less than eight times the diameter of the pipe. It is strictly forbidden to use open fire to heat and bend.
- (9) Metal threads are designed with tapered threads, and can be sealed with hemp or plastic bags when connected, and not over-tightened.
- (10) When two pipes overlap and overlap, a curved pipe must be used.
- (11) PP-R pipelines shall not be used as slings, hangers, etc.
- (12) After the buried pipe is sealed, the position and direction of the pipe shall be marked on the wall or ground. It is strictly forbidden to impact or nail sharp objects such as metal on the pipe [3] .
