What is the difference between memory and data storage?
Terms of memory and data storage are often confused. Memory and data storage is the means by which the computer leads the data used to perform tasks. Both are therefore measured in bytes. However, two separate entities are memory and storage and the conditions should not be confused. Memory is commonly referred to as a memory with a random approach (RAM), but also includes reading memory (ROM). Data storage is also called a hard disk.
The main difference between memory and data storage is their function. The storage is used to keep all computer information. The hard disk data is permanent and does not get lost when the computer is turned off. When the file is deleted, only access to this file is deleted, not the information itself. That is why computer experts are able to restore information to your computer, even if such information has been removed. For permanent deletion of the file, the hard disk must be formatted or rewritten. It is even possible that even while the printer has been formatted, an expert canto still view this information. There are programs that write nonsense data via the disc information, allowing anyone unreadable to anyone.
On the other hand, the memory allows the computer to quickly access the hard drive files. When the computer starts the application, such as a word processor, the central processing unit (CPU) loads data from the hard disk and loads it into RAM, allowing quick access. The amount of RAM and has limits on how many programs can be run at once. Because the information stored on RAM is lost when the computer is turned off, saving the file in such an application writes information to the hard drive so that they are not lost.
ROM is used to store boot firmware, information that the computer uses to start. The firmware runs to the computer to check all its systems and hardware and opening a computer system. ROM also contains information thatIt keeps the computer and its various hardware attachments, correctly. Unlike RAM, the information stored in ROM will not get lost when the computer is turned off.
However,data memory and storage can work together. If the computer does not have enough RAM to support its processes, it converts part of the hard disk to virtual memory. Virtual memory acts just like RAM. However, because it is part of the hard disk, virtual memory slows down the computer. The way around it is to add memory to a sick computer. There are also products known as removable storage, some of which are inch units and compact disks (CDs) that allow users to save files and move them from your computer to your computer.
