What Is a Depth Micrometer?

Depth micrometer is a kind of measuring tool that uses the principle of spiral pair to turn the rotary motion into linear motion.

The depth micrometer consists of a differential tube, a fixed sleeve, a measuring rod, a base, a force measuring device, and a locking device, as shown in the following figure:
1. Wipe the depth micrometer clean before use, and then check whether its moving parts are flexible and reliable: the rotation of the differential cylinder should be flexible during the full stroke, the movement of the differential screw should be stable, and the function of the locking device should be reliable. 2. Select and replace the measuring rod according to the measured depth or height. 3, 0-25mm depth micrometer can directly calibrate the zero position: use a 00 level platform, wipe the platform, the reference surface of the depth micrometer and the measurement surface clean, rotate the differential tube to make its end face out of the zero line of the fixed sleeve, Then attach the reference surface of the micrometer to the working surface of the platform, press the base with your left hand, and slowly rotate the ratchet wheel with your right hand to make the measuring surface contact the working surface of the platform and check the zero position: the zero mark on the differential tube should be aligned with the fixing sleeve The longitudinal engraving line on the tube and the end face of the cone cone of the differential tube shall be tangent to the zero engraving line of the casing. 4. For a depth micrometer with a measurement range greater than 25mm, use the calibration gauge (can be replaced by a measuring block) to calibrate the zero position: clean the working surface of the calibration gauge and the platform, place the calibration gauge on the platform, and then place the reference surface of the depth micrometer. Put it on the proofing gage to proof the zero position. 5. When using a depth micrometer to measure blind holes and deep grooves, the situation of the hole and the bottom of the groove is often invisible. Therefore, you must be very careful when operating the depth micrometer and do not use force. 6. When the diameter or groove width of the measured hole is larger than the base of the depth micrometer, an auxiliary positioning reference plate can be used for measurement.
1. Don't shake the micro tube quickly. 2. It is not allowed to rub hard surfaces such as oil stone, sandpaper, etc. on the measuring surface and micro-screw. 3. It is not allowed to add alcohol, kerosene, diesel, motor oil or vaseline between the micrometer tube of the depth micrometer and the fixed sleeve; it is not allowed to soak the depth micrometer in the above oils or water and coolant. If the depth micrometer is immersed in the above liquid, rinse it with aviation gasoline, and then add a small amount of watch oil or special light lubricant. 4. After use, wipe the parts of the depth micrometer with silk or a clean white fine cloth, remove the replaceable measuring rod and the micrometer screw and apply a thin layer of anti-rust, then put it in a special box and store it in a dry place. 5. Do not place the depth micrometer in a humid, acidic, magnetic, high temperature or vibration place. 6. Depth micrometer must implement periodic verification, and the verification period is determined by the measurement department according to the use situation.
Traditional measurement method:
At present, the internal quality inspection method of the factory is to measure a piece of data and manually record it in the paper by the surveyor, or measure it by one person and record it by another person. When analysis is required, the operator enters the data into the computer. In the EXCEL form, the problem caused by the method is low efficiency and the data is easy to memorize. At the same time, some operators do not know the measurement specifications of the product. The operator cannot take measures in time when the product exceeds the specifications, and the data analysis is needed. When you do, you need to enter the computer repeatedly.
New measurement method:
Connect the depth micrometer directly to the data acquisition instrument for measurement. The data acquisition instrument will automatically collect measurement data, calculate analysis, and automatically judge the results. This measurement method can improve measurement efficiency and reduce errors caused by manual measurement. The effect of the measurement principle is shown in the following figure:
