What is a Steel Blank?

Steel slabs are products obtained by casting molten steel from a steelmaking furnace. From the manufacturing process, steel slabs can be divided into two types: die casting slabs and continuous casting slabs. The die casting process has been basically eliminated.

There are two main types:
The billet is originally steel. After processing, it can be used as mechanical parts, forgings, various steels, section steel Q345B channel steel, and the wire is the role of the billet.
Billets are semi-finished products used to produce steel, and generally cannot be directly used by society. There is a strict division standard between steel billet and steel. It cannot be determined by whether it is the final product of the enterprise, but it must be implemented according to the unified standard of the whole society. Generally speaking, steel billets are relatively easy to distinguish from steel, but for some steel billets, they have the same specifications and the same use as steel (such as rolled tube billets). 2. Whether to pass the finished rolling mill process to distinguish. [1]
Continuous cast steel billets and rectangular billets are mainly represented by ordinary carbon steel, low-carbon low-silicon cold-rolled materials, high-quality carbon structural steel, low-alloy high-strength steel, and special steel types.
Billets are produced by three processes:
First, the continuous casting equipment of the steelmaking system is used to directly cast molten steel into slabs;
The second is the semi-finished steel products processed by the rolling equipment of the steel ingot or continuous casting slab produced by the steelmaking system;
The third is the semi-finished products processed by the forging equipment for the steel ingots produced by the steelmaking system. [1]
