What is tuyere?
Tuyere is a metallurgical term referring to an opening through which oxygen or air is supplied inside the furnace, fireplace or smithy, helping to increase the temperature for melting or melting different types of metal. This device is often shaped as a tube or nozzle that is glued to the furnace from the outside and is usually made of copper or cast iron. Tyere is usually connected to a set of bellows or explosive engine, which promotes air or oxygen and into the melting device. Older types of furnaces often had only one tuyere, while modern industrial furnaces can have more than 40, helping to allow higher temperature. The word Tuyere is eventually derived from the ancient Germanic word tuyau, which means a pipe, and this device can also be called tuzo, twyer or twire-trup.
Iron melting and other metals such as tin and copper have been practiced for thousands of years. Bloomery was the earliest type of melting room capable of melting iron. Kloomeria usually consisted of a pit or a chimney with a metal or clawM tuyere through the air through the side wall. These melts have formed so -called flowers, which means a weight consisting of slag and iron that could be formed into cat iron.
Bloomery furnaces were eventually replaced by high furnaces, which are usually used to group iron ore. The ability to produce better furnace fittings, such as cast -iron tuyeres, was one of the factors in the development of blast furnaces. The blast furnace usually has several tuyers located at the bottom of the structure. Every tuyere blows air or oxygen into the furnace, while ore and fuel like coal are inserted into the furnace from above. The furnace is capable of higher temperatures than a flower and is usually used to produce iron, which can then be produced into other types of iron or used for steel formation.
Most Tuyeres that air or oxygen is cooled with water to withstand high temperatures. In some cases tyeres can be used toInserting a device for measuring temperature inside the furnace or adding various materials to melting metal. A blacksmith fireplace can also be equipped with tuyere. In this case, Tuyere is often attached to the hand or legs controlled by the air, which gives the air, keeps the fireplaces hot enough to work on the metal.
