What are different uses for atropine?
In cases of surgery, where anesthesia should be administered, the atropine is given in advance to reduce body secretions such as mucus and saliva. This accelerates the body's ability to absorb anesthesia. Decrease in secretion also increases anesthesia more efficient and therefore can prevent repeated anesthetic administration. In general, drugs slow down physical activities associated with the nervous system and therefore inhibit the production of secretion. It may cause a cyclopegia or temporary paralysis of the eye muscles responsible for focusing on the object. This process can help provide relief to a patient suffering from iridocyclitis or inflamed UVEA and can also treat glaucoma. Medicines can also be used to extend mydriasis or the effect of dilatation of the eye pupil. The use of atropine as an ophthalmic drug should be carefully approached, as the effect may take two weeks. The drug is usually injected to cause heart activity during heart attacks and in the case of asystole or "flat line". Bradycardia or heart condition fRequirements less than 50 beats per minute can also be treated. Atropine works by defending the vagus nerves to slow down your heart rate. The American Heart Association ended its recommendations for using the drug for Aystole.
The drug can also be used to effect against chemical poisoning. Atropine, in itself, is not antitoxin, but by blocking some of the nervous system receptors in receiving any "messages" of pain, it relieves symptoms caused by poisoning. Symptoms of dumbbells that include diarrhea, urination and sweating can be reduced by injection of the drug. Many soldiers who are assigned to chemical war sites usually bring syringes containing atropine.
In less urgent situations, the drug can also be taken as a drug for syndrome and diarrhea of irritated intestine. Combined with other chemicals, small doses of atropine can be used as a calm for animals. A drug can cause hallucinations and therefore some people take the chemicals for rEcreational and illegal use. However, irresponsible drug use can lead to negative effects such as confusion and delirium, poisoning and even coma. When the latter effects are experienced, there is a greater possibility that death will follow.
