What is Christian counseling?

Christian counseling is counseling or psychotherapy based on Christian faith. It can describe a number of modalities and counseling practices and can be offered individuals with different types of education and credentials. Some people choose Christian counseling on other types of mental health advice and treatment because they are more comfortable to manage mental health problems or personal problems in a religious context. Although these experts may meet professional licensing standards in their area, they may or may not have specific training in theology or spiritually oriented counseling.
