Itraconazole indication
- It is mainly used for systemic infections caused by deep fungi, such as blastomycosis, histoplasmosis, coccidioidomycosis, pigmented fungal disease, sporotrichosis, and coccidioidomycosis. Can also be used for candidiasis and aspergillosis.
Clinical application of itraconazole
- Oral, superficial fungal infection: once a day, 0.1g ~ 0.2g each time taken at meals, the course of treatment is 7 or 15 days. Onychomycosis short-term intermittent therapy; 0.2 g orally each time, 2 times a day, even for 7 days, with 3 weeks of withdrawal as a course of treatment. Nail ringworm disease is treated in this way for 2 courses; toenail ringworm disease is used in 3 courses. Pityriasis versicolor, vaginal candidiasis, fungal keratitis: Orally, 0.2 g once daily for 5 days, 3 days, and 3 weeks. Deep systemic fungal infections: Oral, starting at 0.2g per day, can be added to 0.4g per day when the effect is not good. The length of the medication period is determined according to clinical and test results.
Itraconazole adverse reactions
- The effect of this product on liver enzymes is lighter than that of ketoconazole, but hepatic damage should still be watched for, and cases of liver failure have been found. With nausea and other gastrointestinal reactions, hypokalemia and edema can also occur. This product has a certain degree of cardiotoxicity. Multiple cases of congestive heart failure have been found and there have been deaths.
Itraconazole precautions
- 1. It is recommended to check liver function for those who continue to use the medicine for more than 1 month. Hypokalemia and edema may occur.
- 2. Women of childbearing age should take appropriate contraceptive measures when using this product until the next menstrual cycle after discontinuation.
- 3. Use with caution in patients with abnormal liver function.

Itraconazole drug interactions
- 1. Enzyme-inducing drugs such as rifampicin can significantly reduce the oral bioavailability of this product. Therefore, the plasma concentration of this product should be monitored when combined with enzyme-inducing drugs.
- 2. This product interacts with warfarin and digoxin. Therefore, if these drugs are taken with this product, the dose should be reduced.
