What are different types of antidepressants?

Common antidepressant types may include selective serotonin (SSRI), tricyclic inhibitors, serotonin-norepinephrine (SNRI) inhibitors, and monoamine oxidase inhibitors (Maoi). All these types of antidepressants work by interacting with some biochemicals in the body, which are said to affect the mood of man. All types can also cause common side effects such as nausea, sleep and fatigue problems. Serotonin is a chemical known as "happy hormone" because it creates a sense of happiness. There is a lack of serotonin in the body when neuro-receptors reabsorb or "reverse" serotonin, which can lead to depression. SSRI prevents serotonin backwards and provides the corresponding amount of chemicals. Common drugs in SSRI classification include fluoxetine, sertraline and escitalopram. Tje's type of antidepressants works on norepinephrine and serotonin. Tricyclics can be particularly very deadly whenThey take in large doses, causing a drastic increase in heart rate. Despite their efficiency, tricyclic antidepressants are used less often due to the wide range of safer drugs. Tricyclics are imipranime, nortriptylin and amitriptylin.

Another type of antidepressant drugs similar to Tricyclics is SNRI. As the name suggests, SNRIS also blocks the reuction of serotonin and norepinephrine. The patient may have symptoms of download if the drug is suddenly interrupted, so doctors recommend a gradual dose reduction. Antidepressant drugs in the SNRI category are venlafaxine, milnacipran, duloxetin and desvenlafaxine.

doctors may prescribe another type of antidepressant medicines called Maois, unless it is the second types. Maois have great potential to be dangerous, and therefore doctors usually do not prescribe them as the first treatment. These antidepressants work by interaction with three biochemicals: DOpamin, norepinephrine and serotonin. Antidepressants that are considered Maois are phenelzin, isocarboxazide and segilin.

All antidepressant drugs can cause some side effects, and therefore many people turn to alternative antidepressants such as herbs. Creation of st. Jana is considered one of the most effective and most famous forms of alternative drugs and other herbal antidepressants include lavender, saffron and shorts. It is said that traditional medicine, such as Ayurveda and Acupuncture, help depression and anxiety. A more natural drug is the intake of omega-3, vitamin B-12 and folic acid. Regular exercise can also help reduce depression when it releases endorphins, another hormone associated with feelings.
