What are great apes?
Great apes are members of the Hominidae family, which includes people, chimpanzees, gorillas and orangutans. There is one kind of person ( homo sapiens ), two kinds of chimpanzees (ordinary chimpanzees and chimpanzees), two species of gorilla (western gorilla and eastern gorilla), two types of orangutan (Bornnean Orangutan and Sumatran) that have been in the last few millions of years) which have been (other as in the other years that have been (like>. Neanderthalis ) were probably as intelligent as modern people. Yet there are considerable variations in large apes. Large apes have evolved from African smaller apes about 18 million years ago. Until recently, it was assumed that chimpanzees and people were divided between 3 and 5 million years, but more fossil findings ( sahelanthropus ) suggest that the division happened earlier, between 6 and 7 milesIony years.
Large apes are very intelligent. Every big ape is probably smarter than any other member of the animal kingdom, except for other great apes. All large apes deal with a certain degree of use of tools. Their semi -system adhesion allows them to use rocks or sticks for different purposes, including weapons. Gorillas were observed testing the depth of water with sticks. It is known that chimpanzees lure thermites from their nests using sticks. Although the use of a chimpanze tool in the wild has been popularized by Jane Goodall in the 1960s, all large apes have been observed since then by tools. It is uncertain which great apes, except for humans, is the most intelligent, but it seems that recent research points to orangutan, which is intelligent enough to create roofs resistant to their night nests.
great apes, onlyOne, orangutan, is primarily an arboreal (tree living). Others dwell on Earth, with only one person who are able to swim. In Central Africa, the Congo River is divided by two primary types of chimpanzees: common chimpanzee and Bonobo. Their genetic separation occurred about 1.5 - 2 million years ago, when the Congo River was first formed. The differences between them are superficial in anatomy, but deep in the diet and social structure. Bonobs only eat fruit and have egalitarian, non -violent, matriarchal, highly sexual society, while ordinary chimpanzees are omnipotent and have a social structure based on the alpha man who leads the troops of men.
Of course, the most unusual of the great apes is man. People have numerous anatomical differences with other large apes, including large brains, pedal bill, high figure, hairless bodies, excess body fat and more. Evolutionary biologists have to come up with the decisive reasons to explain all these differences, but have been submittedThe theory.
