What are merino sheep?
Merino Sheep is a type of sheep kept primarily for wool. There are several different sources of merino sheep, each with slightly different properties. The breed varieties increase all over the world, with important populations in Australia, New Zealand and Spain. Merino Sheep was originally bred in Spain; In fact, it was illegal to export them to the 18th century. Rams often does not settle, especially if they are voting from Australian varieties. Merinos also has a very long productive life, sometimes living up to 12 years. These properties, among other things, make Merinos pleasant and profitable to raise small farms where sheep can be paid enough attention. When the sheep had to be kept using natural methods, it was difficult to consolidate the best of the Merino breed in one place. The sheep were sprayed on different continents, which means that the best ram could not always be associated with the best ewes. Thanks to artificial insemination and methods of better quality identification, the Merino breed is constantly improving.
Most varieties are smooth or almost so, but some have heavy and obvious wrinkles in the skin. Due to selective breeding, most of the sheep is white or white, although colored lambs are still born sometimes. Some farmers specifically focus on increasing color merinos to make naturally colored textiles. In particular, black sheep is now valued for its unique wave.
The wave of most Merino sheep is often considered exceptionally fine because it is strong, soft and has unique properties between the fibers. Usually the Merino wave is limited and has a diameter of less than 24 microns. Merino sheep can produce fibers as fine as 10 microns, although it is usually not on the whole blank. Fine merino fibers are also sometimes mixed with other fibers such as alpaca or cashmere during production for luxury yarn.
Merino wave is popular in many clothing subjects, especially those that are intendedy for outdoor athletic activities. Wool wool wick from moisture remains warm when it is wet and has antibacterial properties. Merino socks are particularly popular because these features are very valuable in footwear. These attributes also use other items, especially those worn against the skin. Items made from Merino generally work better than cheaper synthetic counterparts and are therefore often considered the best available on the market.
