What are the best methods of waterproofing basement?

Vodoofalization of the basement is a task that should start from home. To minimize the chances that water penetrates through the walls, gutters and benefits should be in proper repair and the soil surrounding the foundation should bend from the house. Also trees and shrubs should be planted at a certain distance from the building. Cracks should be repaired inside the basement and concrete seals can be applied to the walls and floor. This water often penetrates the ground and then leaks with cracks in the basement walls. The gutters and downspauts should be either installed or repaired in front of the basement. Also, rainwater, which descends down after evaporation, should be diverted from the foundation of the building, at least 6 feet (1.83 meters) .ng basement. A country that slopes towards the building can cause water to run down the slope and collect next to the foundation, may cause leaks in the basement. To repair this slope, it should be filled in to create a slope that causes water to run away from the foundation.

tree roots and shrubs can also cause problems if they are planted too close to the house. The water that leaks into the ground can run these roots and collect underground next to the walls of the basement. From there it can leak with walls or cracks in the walls. Large roots can also cause walls to burst, making it difficult to water the basement. For these reasons, trees and shrubs should be planted at least a few feet (1 meter) from the house.

After checking and enhancement of these external areas, the next step is to repair all cracks or holes and floors in the basement. Smaller cracks and holes can be filled with epoxy on a construction or latex cement. Both are strong, yet flexible and compensate for any structural movements.

The last step in the waterproofing of the basement applies a waterproofing compound or sealant to walls and floor. Before it is done, any old color should be removed by a wire brushm or sand. Some of these compounds may be sprayed directly onto the walls, while others may have to be mixed with water and applied with a stiff brush.
