What is the dead end?

cul-de-Sac is a street that has a vehicle access at only one end. The lower part of the dead end, which is literally translated from French as the "lower part of the bag", often rounded in the shape, so the cars must turn to end. Some CULS-DE-SAC can have small paths or burden to access the next street cyclists and pedestrians. This type of street is sometimes called a dead end, although many feel that rounding at the end of the street is more typical for modern dead ends.

Although the word is French, French does not use this term to discuss this kind of street. Instead, they use the term Impasse and la Voltaire , or simply Impasse . The reference to Voltaire stems from his proposal that the dead ends were a non -managed way of describing such a street. Actually, it was the British who used this word when the Frenchman was a standard language of the "court".

In many parts of the world, CULS-DE-SAC is seen in abundance. Since in the 1950s in the US replaced,Especially in many suburban areas, simple planning of the grid used at the beginning of the 20th century. This can have advantages.

Many people feel that the only entry reduces crime and operation, and in fact some people are willing to pay up to 20% more for a house on a dead end. Parents can especially appreciate dead ends, because when children go out, less supervision may be required. Operation is less concerned and is less likely that people who do not belong to the street (foreigners and not neighbors) will be there. Clear streets can still be dangerous drivers, but children meet less operation, especially when playing on the "end of the bag".

There is some criticism of CULS-DE-SAC, especially for those who are advocates of mass transit. Buses, either to school or city buses, have difficulty turning AROUnd and do not have to stop near the dead end. It can somediscourage, especially if the dead end appears on Dlouhá Street, from walking to the main street to catch the bus. School children may be less inclined to use school buses and others may not use any type of public transport. Because of the environment, some of the US are now forbid or strongly discourage the new CULS-DE-SAC design.

On the other hand, the dead ends can be an effective way to use the special space remaining from the construction of things such as highways. A slightly unusual arrangement of space could become a rounded street. Of course, not everyone is enthusiastic about a home that supports the highway or the main shopping center, and some will find such a culs-de-Sac less attractive.

You may have seen the plural number of this word culs-de-Sac in this article, which is technically correct. Many people, however, call dead ends instead.
