What is Agouti?
Agouti is a large rodent from South America, where it ranges from Mexico to part of Argentina. Agoutis can be quite large, weighing up to nine pounds (four kilograms) and forms an important part of the ecology of the rainforest. In addition to being in the wild, Agouti is kept captivity in many zoos around the world. Some Agouti species are threatened due to the destruction and hunting of habitat, which increases concerns between nature conservationists regarding the health of forests without strong Agouti populations. They have storage, solid bodies and long slender legs, with tails that move from short to long depending on the species. At first glance, Agouti looks like a squirrel without a tail on stilts. The color varies very much, but the animals usually have a glossy, smooth fur with a hint of cinnamon brown color. In general, Agoutis wanders during the day, but in a period of stress turns to night. Agoutis consists of monogamous pairs for a lifetime and can join up to twice a year under favorable conditions and after pregnantEnvstvo for 120 days to produce a young young. Once young adults are, they are invited to find new habitats elsewhere in the forest, although prisoner families can live together peacefully.
Agoutis diet is omnipotent, with animals capturing fallen fruits, seeds, shoots, fresh green and insects. They also store a large amount of seeds and fruit and contribute to the scattering of rainforest seed, which promotes healthy and balanced growth around the forest. In the regions where Agotis was heard, environmentalists have noticed a decline in biodivority, which is probably due to several factors except for the lack of rodents.
Like many small wild mammals, Agouti tends to be nervous and somewhat unreal. The animals communicate with the growl and whistles and also make characteristic rodent sounds when the torso of seeds and nuts burst. Some people keep Agoutis as exotic pets, and although they are less appropriateOut of guinea pigs and similar relatives, they can make interesting and loyal social animals. Before considering Agouti as a pet, make sure you have access to a veterinarian who processes exotic animals, and check the local regulations that may require you to get permission to wild animals.
