What is Ceiba?
Ceiba is a genus of plants that is part of the Malvaceae family. It contains about ten types of tropical trees that come from Central and South America, as well as parts of Africa. These trees are extremely high and usually rise above the overall forest canopy. The fibers surrounding the seeds were used in production, while the trunks were modified for use as a canoe. Their greatest threat comes from deforestation.
The name of this genus is derived from Taino Word Tsayee-Baa. Taino was nascent inhabitants of the Caribbean islands. The trees in this family are also referred to as "silk cotton trees". Ceiba Pentandra is commonly called "Kapok" and Ceiba special is known as "Silk Floss Tree". Ceiba Rosea is distributed throughout Colombia, Costa Rica and Panama, while Ceiba speciosa is originally from Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil. CEIBA Trichistandra is found in drying areas of the Ecuador and Peru.
Ceiba Trees belongs to the limitEven the highest in the Amazon rainforest. They can reach a height of 200 feet (about 60 m) and the trunk can be as wide as 10 feet (3 m). The trunk is usually protected by strong spikes. Another unusual function is that the suitcase and branches are green. The color is caused by the presence of photosynthetic pigments in the bark.
flowers open during the night and pollute bats and pollen. Usually trees flowers every five years and only when the tree is hairless. This generally occurs during the drought period.
Fruit and tree seeds contain light fibers that are repeated with water. The seeds are transmitted by the wind and the fruit can float on the water. This can explain how the species are in the southern American family as a species in Africa.
Thefiber derived from the Kapok tree was historically used in life conversions because it is hovering and water resistant. The upholstered car seat was also plinen with these fibers. However, when modern materials have become standard, the fibers from the Kapok tree were no longer in demand.
wood from the Kapok tree is still very desirable. Although it is not suitable for furniture, soft and light wood is ideal as pulp and plywood. Some countries reduce trees and use wood to produce pallets.
