What is the sea pollution?

Sea pollution concerns ocean contamination, especially with human or by -products waste. Many environmentalists are considered a serious problem because it may have harmful and lasting effects on the global marine ecosystem. There are several types of sea pollution, each of which has the potential to damage the gentle balance of life. Sources that directly throw away waste into water are known as sources of points. It is harder to recognize the pollution of the source without a point and therefore it is harder to regulate. This happens when pollution comes from several severe-Pinpoint sources, such as the remains of the ocean of the gusts of wind. This marine pollution can be harmful to marine life such as fish or dolphins. Animals can be tangled in matters such as old fishing nets or plastic six packs of Holders, or they can suffocate if they are trapped in a plastic bag. If the debris resembles the food of the animal, it could also be ingested, and the animal will most likely not be able to spend it.

garbage and other sea debris sometimes ends in covering the coast of the islands in the middle of oceanic gyres, which are large circulating ocean currents. Hawaii is, for example, in the middle of Gyre in the North Pacific. Due to the huge amount of residues located here, it is often referred to as a large Pacific patch. One of the main sources of marine remains is containers that will fall from ships whose content will end up on the coast around the world.

ships and other ocean vessels are the main contributors to the pollution of the sea. Oil leaks can damage marine life and often take months or even years to clean. These vessels can also introduce non -native species of animals, plants and micro organs to new habitats when they throw their ballast waters. This can lead to an unbalanced ecosystem because these new species of prey and competitions with native species in the area.

ships, large ships and submarines are also the main source of noiseFor pollution in the oceans and seas. Because the sound continues to travel in the water than in the air, sounds like sonar can travel to miles away. This can cause problems in animals that rely on noise to communicate or find prey.

Toxins such as chemicals, certain metals and radioactive waste are another form of sea pollution. These poisonous substances often have harmful effects on marine life and can accumulate in their bodies. Mercury, which is a waste product of certain types of power plants, accumulates in fish. Tuna and swordfish with high levels of mercury are considered dangerous to eat, especially for nursing mothers, pregnant women and children.

chemical nutrients such as the use of nitrogen and phosphorud in fertilizers, randomly released into the ocean, and also contributes to marine pollution. Thanks to agricultural outflow, it is often made by a water unit. Excess of these types of nutrients can cause excessive algae growth. This process, known as eutrophication, can often lead to lessoxygen in water.

The amount of oxygen in water also decreases as the water warmer. This can happen when water is used as a coolant, industrial manufacturers and power plants are thrown into rivers and oceans. Since warmer water contains less oxygen, it is harder for some species to survive and can die. This type of sea pollution is called thermal pollution.

Acidification of world oceans is another problem of many environmentalists. The ocean naturally absorbs carbon dioxide and as the amount of carbon dioxide increases in the atmosphere, the amount that absorbs the ocean is also increasing. The result is a lower level of Phocean, which may disrupt the delicate marine ecosystem. Many scientists believe that more acidic water can make some molluscs to create their shells. The disappearance of coral reefs are also accused of acidifying the ocean.
