What is homozygous dominant?

Homozygous dominant is the term used in genetics to describe the genotype of the organism. Genotype is a combination of genes that cause a phenotype, which is how the body looks or works. There are three different types of genotypes that are homozygous dominant, homozygous recessive and heterozygous. Copy of a gene or alleles are found in the same place on a pair of chromosomes. One copy comes from a male parent and one comes from a parent woman. Alleles determine the same characteristics - for example hair color or eye color - but can cause different results.
