What is the medullary cord?

Medular cord is a dense structure in the lymph node and is composed of lymphatic tissue. Medular cords are located in the medulle lymph nodes, located in the center of the node. They work by creating antibodies that flow out of the lymph nodes through a lymphatic fluid. These cords also contain numerous macrophages that clean the lymphatic fluid before leaving the knot.

Medular tissue cords make up most of the medully lymph nodes. The cords are separated by medular cavities, which are the spaces through which the lymphatic fluid flows. However, the barrier between the medular cords and the cavities is not solid, so the cords project into the cavities to interact with the lymphatic fluid that flows through them. While the lymphatic fluid is in contact with the medular cord, the cells in the cord store antibodies and remove harmful materials. The fluid then flows from the lymph node to fight the antigens found in the rest of the body.

Plasma cells are white blood cells that produce a large number of generalized antibodies, and B cells are a type of lymphocyte that produces antibodies against specific antigen.
