In Physics, What Is the Softening Point?
The Vicat softening point test is to measure the temperature of a thermoplastic in a specific liquid heat transfer medium under a certain load and a constant constant temperature heating condition when the sample is pressed into a 1mm by a 1mm needle. This method is only suitable for most thermoplastics. The Vicat softening point measured experimentally is suitable for controlling quality and as an indicator for identifying the thermal properties of new varieties, but does not represent the temperature at which the material is used. The current national standard for Vicat softening point is GB / T 1634-1979. [1]
