How do wind turbines work?

wind turbines convert energy energy to electricity. There are two basic components to the wind turbine: blades that move through the wind and mechanical transmission and electricity generator. When the wind moves through the turbine blades, the rotor shaft moves the gears inside the gearbox. This movement creates energy that is captured by an electricity generator and added to the power grid. There are two types of wind turbines: horizontal axis and vertical axis.

The Horizontal axis (HAWT) is very similar to the windmill in appearance. The electrical generator and the main rotor shaft are located at the top of the tower. Wind sensors and servomotors are often used to automatically align wind turbines with the direction of the predominant wind. The transmission converts a large, slow rotation to the speed of rotation necessary to produce electricity.

wind turbines are very rigid and are made of a combination of hard plastic and light metals. The blade installed in front of the tower and are usually directed nakedost. This is done to prevent the blades from being forced to be back into the tower and to adapt to turbulence forces

usually are three blades on wind turbines. They are between 65 and 130 feet (20 to 40 meters) long and slightly colored. In the case of high wind speeds, all wind turbines have turned off functions. This function is used to prevent damage to the wind turbine equipment.

wind turbine (VAWT) vertical axis differs slightly from Hawt. In this model, the generator and gearbox are located on the ground at the turbine base. This shift allows greater flexibility and removes the need to direct the turbine directly into the wind. The location of mechanical equipment at the bottom of the turbine is more accessible for repair and maintenance.

Vawts are usually installed on Ground or on the roof of the building. The wind speed at this height is usually slower and therefore generates less energy. One of the possibleThe work is to create a very long axis that requires significant sources and materials.

roof units mounted on the roof will pick up the wind, which was redirected through the shape of the building. This function can significantly increase wind speed. The roof turbine should be installed so that the blades are at least half the height of the building from the roof. This is the ideal distance to capture the most wind energy.
