What are DMX channels?
The
digital multiplex (DMX) channels are individual data currents that take place with the only communication line to control different devices. They are well used in lighting check, especially in the case of DMX512; "512" means the number of channels available for use. Although 512 channels may sound like a lot of professional lighting for events such as rock concerts, it may actually require multiple DMX main devices to fully control all lighting and special effects.
Each DMX channel can convey information from the control panel such as lighting. The DMX channel controls are sometimes known as "Dimmers" and can be referred to the DIM number. The operator can set each channel to between 1 and 255. V 1 has no output and the device controlled by this channel should be off. When the channel is 255, it is at maximum power; In the case of a bulb, this would be fully illuminated.

DMX channels can beUsed to change the focus of light, adding gobos and other effects, turning gels to change the color of the light and add the effects of the frost to make the light seem softer and more blurred.
