What is AC cord?

AC power (AC) Power cord or simply AC line is a cord used to connect the device to the power supply such as a wall outlet. These types of cords are often used in electronic devices such as desktop computers (PC), laptops, printers and small kitchen appliances. They can be permanently attached to the device or removable and come to several types that indicate the required power and threshold value of the temperature cable. The cord itself is usually the length of the wire or wires that were secured in the rubber exterior to protect anything outside the electric cord from the electric current.

AC current applies to the type of electric current used today in many countries, including the United States. Supported by several early electric pioneers, such as Nikola Tesla, it is a type of electricity that usually comes from a wall socket and is therefore used to power home and office equipment. AC cord is only a power cord that can take the current fromsockets or power supply to the power supply.

The various types of cords were determined by the International Electrical Electrical Commission (IEC) as part of its IEC 60320 specification. They fall under several different types that are numbered for easier reference and full names such as IEC 60320 C1 or IEC 60320 C15. Any type of IEC 60320 cable has a maximum voltage rating of 250 volts. C1 and C2 cords are non -voltable and are often used for small pocket devices such as electric shaving machines.

While C3 and C4 cords are not as common as other cords, C5 and C6 connectors are often used for computers and laptop projectors. These cords are commonly called "Mickey Mouse" or "Cloverleaf" connectors, because the shape of a three -end connector is similar to these shapes. C7 and C8 connectors can be polarized orUnpollarized, and the non -polarized version is often called a "picture of eight" thanks to its shape. The polarized alternating cord C7 or C8 is similarly shaped, but one of the two circular sides is flat on one side.

Connectors

C13 and C14 are commonly used on desktop computers and are commonly found as power cables for computer towers and monitors. These types of cords are so common that they can often refer to them as "IEC cord". C15 and C16 are also commonly used, but are preferred for use with small kitchen appliances such as hot plates, and are designed to withstand higher temperatures than other cords. Most AC cords have a maximum temperature rating of 158 degrees Fahrenheit (or 70 degrees C). C15 and C16 cords have a maximum temperature rating of 248 degrees Fahrenheit (120 degrees C) and look like a cord C13 or C14, but eventually with a small notch to ensure that lower temperature cables cannot be used in C15 and C16 devices.

there are a cordY C17 and C18, although they are used less commonly than other types and look similar to C13 and C14 cords, but without a third pin for grounding. C19 and C20 cords have a rectangular shape and are used for devices that require higher electric currents such as network servers. There are also higher current cords, but are less common than described here.
