What Are Sustainable Communities?
The Sustainable Communities Association (ISC) was established in 1991 and was initiated by Ms. Madeleine M. Kuning, a former Ambassador of the United States and former Governor of Vermont, and has carried out 75 community-changing projects in more than 20 countries around the world.
Sustainable Communities Association
- Help communities around the world address environmental, economic, and social challenges to build a better future shaped and shared byall. (Help communities around the world to actively respond to environmental, economic, and social challenges and build a better future that is shaped and shared by everyone.)
- With more than 20 years of work experience, ISC provides the necessary tools, skills and resources for people around the world who are passionate and dedicated to improving the human living environment. The scope of the project implementation ranges from the national scope to the regional and local levels, helping local communities solve the serious problems facing communities. We have extensive environmental and energy efficiency projects in some of the world's most polluted cities. ISC is committed to improving the capabilities of various types of enterprises, government functions and non-profit organizations and strengthening community leadership. At the same time, ISC is also focused on disseminating advanced experiences in the efficient use of resources to countries. Important achievements have been made in the United States and internationally.
- ISC's project model is based on 12 years of ISC experience in Russia. Launched 721 projects in the local area to help the region obtain clean air and water, remove hazardous waste, reduce energy consumption, and develop sustainable businesses. In addition, ISC also helped 39 communities achieve annual carbon dioxide emissions reductions of more than 12,000 tons, and put the saved energy into local construction.
- Since ISC entered China in 2007, it has collaborated with academics, technical experts, government officials, and community members on projects in the industrial, power, urban, governance, and education sectors. Through extensive dissemination of recognized resources, capacity building, and sharing of best practices in climate change mitigation and adaptation and sustainable development, ISC focuses its work on building institutional capacity and leadership.
- The ISC believes that China and the United States need to continue to work closely together to deal with issues caused by climate change. China and the United States have a wealth of experience, technology and services, and can work together to address energy and environmental challenges and promote low-carbon development. Leveraging a series of professional advantages from government and non-governmental organizations, ISC strives to introduce cleaner, healthier and more sustainable environmental protection solutions and practices into China, especially in the two most industrialized provinces in China-Guangdong and Jiangsu .
