What Is a Stage-Gate Model?
The stage gate model is one of the technical innovation project management tools. Canadian Cooper and others proposed in the article "The New Product Development Process of Leading Industrial Enterprises" (1991). The entire process of product innovation projects is divided into 7 stages: idea generation, idea evaluation, product / market positioning, principle model development, sample development, trial production and trial marketing, formal production and listing. At each stage, a door is set up, and the results of the project's stage activities are evaluated according to relevant criteria. The evaluation results are divided into "continuing execution at the next stage", "suspended" and "rework". [1]
