What are maintenance contracts?
Maintenance Agreements are agreements that define the scope of support services provided after the purchase of the main equipment, vehicle, assets and other high -card items. Although the support offered in this type of contract is similar to a service contract, it is usually aimed at preventing the development of major problems with the item, rather than simply covering the cost of repair if there is a type of collapse. Maintenance contracts are usually offered for an additional fee and can be considered as a supplement to the service contract.
One of the most common examples of maintenance contracts is additional protection offered in many purchases of vehicles. Maintenance contracts are another common application of this type of agreement. In this scenario, the Service Provider agrees to ask for certain features to help keep the building and its systems for code and in good operation. A typical commercial building contract would include the periodic inspection of the foundation, regular maintenance of plumbing and electrical systems and seasonal control of the heating and cooling system.
With almost all maintenance contracts, there is a limitation of what the agreement covers. The necessary repairs or replacement performed as part of maintenance are often offered free of charge, up to a certain amount. Providers may charge a discounted fee for any work above the maximum amount of the contract permitted or the costs may return to standard prices. For this reason is dImportant to read the contract and make sure there is a clear understanding of what is covered and for what amount.
It is not uncommon for maintenance contracts to be offered as a means of obtaining services that are not included in the basic service contract. Confidential consumers should look closely at what is provided in the terms of the contract, compare the contractual bonus with what would be paid from the pocket for the same services, and to see if the contract is truly effective. Depending on the type of maintenance offered, only no real benefit can provide for consumers.
