What Are the Common Signs of an Iron Overdose?

Iron poisoning refers to a poisoning phenomenon in which plants absorb excessive iron and show physiological metabolic disorders and hindered growth and development. Symptoms of iron poisoning in rice are obstruction of aboveground growth, and fine yellow-brown spots appear on the tips, edges and veins of old leaves, also known as bronze disease. Bronze disease is a serious problem for crop production in flooded soils. Iron poisoning occurs in soils with fine texture and rich organic matter. In low-pH, highly reducing paddy soils, ferric ions are reduced to divalent ferrous ions, which can increase the ferrous ion concentration in the soil. [1]
