What are the different types of child cancer?

Cancer is a significant cause of childhood mortality in developed countries, with statistics showing it as the main cause of death of children in the US under 15 years of age. Blood and nervous system - cancer in cells that grow to form bones, blood, muscles and nerve cells - represent more than half of child cancer. Lymphomas, bone cancer, soft tissue cancer and cancer affecting kidneys, eyes or adrenal glands are also common child cancer. They may take the form of solid tumors or cells that pass through the body.

The most common of the various child cancer is leukemia. Leukemia are cancer that occurs in cells that produce blood and bone marrow cells. Mature cells can mutate into a cell form that is reproduced uncontrolled. These cancer cells then prevent the body from producing normal blood or bone marrow cells. Cancer can also spread throughout the body and interfere with the wickedness of organs necessary to survive the young patient.

Central nervous system tumors (CNS) in children affect the brain and spinal cord. Tumors in these areas are solid and can be benign or malignant. Symptoms of CNS cancer may include seizures, behavioral changes and weakness in the limbs. CNS tumors are treated by surgical removal of the tumor.
