What is oncocytom?

oncocytoma is a tumor consisting of epithelial cells called oncocytes. This abnormal growth is usually associated with kidney and salivary glands. However, it can occur anywhere in the body. The tumor is also referred to as oncocytic adenoma or oxyphal adenoma. It is also often described as a benign tumor, which means that it does not develop cancer and is therefore harmless. This condition places it in the category of adenoma, which is a collection of benign epithelial tumors. This categorization explains the alternative term oncocyte adenoma. The term oxyphalic adenoma results from oncocytes that are eosinophilic or "loving" acid "cells.

The most common form of oncocytoma is renal oncocytoma. Medical scientists theorized that the tumor comes from intercaled cells, which are epithelial cells that can be found in the kidney to collect pipes. Because this condition is asymptomatic, showing small or no symptoms of a disease or illness, it is usually discovered unintentionally by scanning or ultrasound technology. If symptoms occur, they include blood release in urine or hematuria; pain on the sides; And a bloated belly.

Another common form of oncocytoma is the salivary gland oncocytoma; This accounts for a very small percentage of all tumors. It usually occurs in the point gland, which is the largest of the salivary glands of the body. The masses are described as solid and painless, with no size more than approximately 1.6 inches (4 cm). Women in their 70s and 80s. Like abnormal kidney growth, the salivary gland oncocytoma is asymptomatic, although especially with thyroid oncocytoma, the patient may have problems with speaking or sloping as a result of the tumor.

Although oncocytoma is considered benign, the oncocytes themselves have the ability to be malignant, and then develop on cancer. In this case, adenoma changesfor cancer, which is a malignant form of epithelial tumor. For example, renal oncocytoma can develop on kidney cancer, the most common form of kidney cancer for adults. Also known as Hypernefroma, it is considered one of the deadliest cancers that is withdrawing because it is asymptomatic in its early stages and is resistant to chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Thyroid tumors can also be malignant and it is often difficult to distinguish cancer from adenoma.
