What Is an Auditory Test?
The Wipman Auditory Discrimination Tests (ADT) was originally published by JMWepman in 1975 and was modified by Reynolds in 1987. This test is used to test the ability of children 4-8 years old to distinguish words with only one factor difference. The test takes about 5 minutes. In the test, the main test reads the pair of words, and the subjects answered whether the words were the same [1] .

- (A) Test Purpose: To measure children's ability to distinguish words that differ only in one factor.
- (2) Editor: JMWepman, first published in 1975; WM Reynolds revised it in 1987, namely ADT-2.
- (3) Scope of application: Children 4-8 years old.
- (4) Test time: about 5 minutes.
- (5) Test composition
- Consists of 1A and 2A versions. Both versions consist of 30 different and 10 identical pairs of words. Ask the participants to answer the same or different words during the test.
- (6) Test Reliability
- The median internal consistency coefficient of type 1A is 0.75, and the median internal consistency coefficient of type 2A is 0.79. In terms of validity, the correlation coefficient of this test with various language tests, intelligence and academic achievement tests is distributed in- 0.81 to 0.85. Over the age range measured by the quiz, the score increases with age.
- (VII) Evaluation
- This test is simple and saves time and effort. It is one of the most well-known hearing perception tests. However, the reliability and validity of the test are not ideal and are not suitable for use in formal evaluation.
