What is the touchpad?

Touchpad is a device designed to translate the user in the form of movements aimed at moving the cursor to the computer. It works similarly to the mouse, allowing users to move the cursor to select items and perform other functions, but is designed in a different way. Instead of using sensors and roller balls or laser like a mouse, the touchpad is a soft pad with sensors that respond to the fingertips on the mat. Since TouchPad does not require space on the table, it can be commonly found in the tops of bikes, personal digital assistants and portable media players. For users who prefer touchpad, touch computers are also available for desktop computers.

under the soft skin of the touchpad is a number of sensors that create an electric field. The finger changes the character of the electric field, allowing the user to drag the cursor over the screen. Most touchpads are equipped with mouse buttons, allowing the user to click on objects while others interpret the taps as KOMouse buttons. Clicking and dragging can be used, for example, to select an item. The commands that the touchpad recognizes is configurable depending on the user's needs.

In addition to the basic function of a similar mouse provided by the touchpad, it can also be programmed to have "hot spots". When the user clicks on one of these places, you can use it to scroll a document, open a frequently used program, or perform other commonly used functions. Preferences for these zones can be changed in Touchpad preferences, which also include sensitivity preferences. Most manufacturers also include guarantees with their touchpads, so they will not respond to your palms or other objects than your finger.

Computers manufacturers began to develop a touchpad at the end of the 80's and in the middle of the 90s. Several notebooks with Touchpad design were released. Thetouchpad was a huge improvement compared to trackballs or UKNubbin's azelies included in laptops and quickly began to control the laptop market. Reducing potential for other markets and companies has also developed products such as drawing tablets that translate "drawing" a specialized pen on a tablet on screen art, and this technology is also used for tablet computers that are able to recognize the manuscript on the movement sensitive.
