What are Kanban cards?

Kanban cards are an essential part of any Kanban system. The cards are used in production facilities to indicate that part or material is low and need to be replaced. Each Kanban card provides specific information about what is needed and exactly that is needed. Fire borrowed the word kanban from the Japanese, which originally referred to complicated wooden or metal marks that were used as trademarks in the Japan of the 17th century. Since the mid -20th century, less sophisticated Kanban cards have been used in factories around the world to reduce costs.

The purpose of the Kanban system is to reduce the costs by checking in stock. Overstock is wasting space and employees are wasting time by placing other materials in storage and later moving. However, no business wants to get an item and forgive customers to wait. Correct use of Kanban cards ensures that there is an enugh inventory on hand for normal operation with very small exaggeration.

Move Cards, which are also known as traffic cards, and production cards are two main types of Kanban cards. The shift card is used to ask to move materials from one workstation or instead of storage to another in the production facility. This is most commonly used for common parts, such as screws and screws that can be stored primarily in one place so that they do not take up much space at a particular workstation.

The production cards signal that multiple parts must be produced, either by manufacturing within the equipment or by ordering from the supplier. A signal or material card is a type of production card that calls managers to order a specific material. Supplier cards can be sent directly to the supplier to order more inventory.

Kanban Post is a central location for all Kanban cards. When something is needed, the employee puts the correct card into the Kanban Post section for new orders. When the manager enters an orderVKU, places the corresponding Kanban card in the section for items that have been ordered but have not been accepted.

In most systems, when the item has been received, the Kanban card is located. Once the shares are exhausted, the Kanban card will be visible and the employee puts the card in the POST Kanban to place the order. In other systems, all cards remain on the post. If the item is not ordered or is waiting for a shipment, it will be simply filed with other Kanban cards until it is needed.
