What Are Raw Plant Materials?
Many of our daily products are made from plant ingredients. For example, wood derived from trees is very versatile, can be used to build houses, and can be made into paper. Rubber is a raw material commonly used in industry. Natural rubber comes from rubber trees growing in Brazil and Southeast Asia; people make a small cut in the bark of a rubber tree, and it will emit a milky sap called latex. After being dried and processed, the latex can be made into tires, glues and many other products. The straw of many herbs is also used as a raw material for the production of fiber products, such as reed straws are now widely used to make paper.
