What is a ground line?
The ground line is an electric wire used to reduce the risk of electric shock. By nature, electricity always follows the fastest way to Earth. If one touched the grounded wire, electricity would pass through the body to reach the ground, resulting in injury or death. If the ground line is present, it offers a short path with low resistance that allows the excess of electricity to reach the ground faster than it would go through the person.
To understand how the ground line is used, it is useful to understand how most of the domestic wiring systems are set. Standard electrical systems carry a few wires, including one hot wire and one neutral. Electricity travels from the panel through the hot wire to power the house and then passes through the neutral wire to complete the loop.
