What is an air capacitor?

The air capacitor is an adjustable capacitor consisting of a row of semicircular, rotating aluminum boards on the central shaft located between a similarly placed set of static aluminum plates. When moving boards rotate, the amount of overlapping between moving and static plates changes. The air between the sets of the boards acts as an effective dielectric and isolates the sets apart. Since the capacity of any capacitor depends on the combined size of its boards, it allows you to adjust this setting the value of the air capacitor. Air will are commonly used in resonant circuits where adjustable capacity is required.

capacitors are electronic components that store electricity for a short time. Capacitors consist of thin metal film plates separated by dielectric or insulating material such as glass compounds, paper or air. The capacity or extent of the ability to store the energy of any capacitor is to z zNatural measures dictated by the total flat plate. Most capacitors have a fixed capacity value, to reduce or increase the value of components. However, some types of electronic circuits require that certain capacitors are repeatedly changed as part of the perimeter function.

In these cases, components such as air condenser, also known as a variable capacitor or air capacitor are used. These are usually significantly larger than conventional capacitors and are not closed in the housing. The network capacitor consists of a row of semicircular discs with a hole drilled in its centers through which the control rod passes. Alternative discs are connected to the control rod while freely passing through others. This means that the disk set is effectively divided into two groups, one rotates between the other with the insulating body of the air between them.

These Discups of Disks Together TVThe two panel areas of the capacitor. Since the discs have the shape of a semicircle, the rotation of the movable set makes the amount that both groups overlap, changes, changing the overall surface of the board. Because the capacitance of the capacitor depends on its total plate area, this change in the area causes the component capacity to change, allowing the operator to change the value of the component at will. The network capacitor is often used in LC or resonant circuits that require capacity changes. These circuits include frequency mixers, radio tuners and components corresponding to the impedance of antenna tuners.
