What is an artificial stone?
Artificial stone indicates a synthetically created compound that resembles or carries the same properties as the natural stone. There are many different types of artificial stone, including synthetic gems, stone veneer, cement compounds and tounted stone. The artificial stone has many different uses as a material from creating costume jewelry to primary building material in buildings.
One of the first types of artificial stone is a ceramic compound known as Coade. Coade Stone was created by the inventor of Eleanor Coade from the 18th century, created by a combination of clay, quartz, flint and other materials that could be poured into molds and fired for the desired hardness. Although it was produced only for 70 years, Coade Stone has become a honored and sought -after material due to its resistance to erosion. However, Coade Stone was largely replaced by cement products at the beginning of the 19th century and ceased to produce a total of 1833.It resembles traditional precious stones. Many of them are created through laboratory production, allowing the growth of synthetic crystals that look almost identical to geologically formed gems, but may have different chemical properties. Extremely cheap reproductions can also be made of other materials such as plastic or glass, but are easily distinguished from the actual stones. Artificial gems are also used for industrial purposes, such as creating laboratory diamonds for abrasive and cutting tools.
Concrete is the primary component in creating many different types of artificial stone. The concrete consists of cement, gravel, ash and liquid ingredients, usually poured into molds that resemble pieces of natural stone. Concrete -based products can often be colored or painted to reproduce the color of natural stoning and cheaper than natural stone. This type of artificial stone is oftenIt calls a cast stone, made stone or stone veneer.
Extremely light and cheap form of artificial stone is a resin stone, which is made of natural and synthetic sap, as well as concrete and coagulance. Rust stone is sometimes used in tiles for floors, showers and counters and is often found as a primary material in the garden statue, fountain and benches. Depending on the quality of the material, the resin stone may look quite natural or have a false plastic look. At a distance, however, even cheap resin gives a passable look of real stone and its lightweight weight makes it a good material for objects that need to be moved regularly.
