What is Less-Than-Truckload?
Less-than-truckload is a Chinese word, which is an abbreviation of Less-than-Truck-Load. It is a noun used in logistics transportation. It means that the owner needs to carry less than one car, and it will be delivered as scattered goods. Transportation costs.
Less-than-truckload
- The usual solution: the service department will arrange the goods of different consignors according to the same arrival to complete a vehicle and then deliver the service. Less-than-truckload transportation needs to wait for the entire vehicle, so the speed is slow. To overcome this shortcoming, a less-than-truckload shuttle with a fixed line and a fixed time has been developed, and the flexibility of automobile transportation can be used to develop less-than-truckload transportation. For example, "home delivery", which is now used in large numbers in Japan, belongs to this form. At present, in response to this demand of enterprises, a number of less-than-truckload bus lines have been developed. The business points distributed in different areas of major cities are used as nearby LTL cargo receiving points and LTL cargo delivery points, which greatly facilitates the owner's LTL business needs.
- Less-than-truckload consignment regulations: In order to facilitate loading and storage, each batch of less-than-truckload cargo must not exceed 300 pieces, and the minimum volume of each less-than-truckload cargo must not be less than 0.02 cubic meters (except for one piece weighing more than 10 kg). Of course, this standard will vary depending on the LTL carrier. Due to the fact that the industry norms of the LTL transportation industry in China are relatively incomplete, the requirements of different carriers for goods will be different. For a single piece of goods with a heavy weight or a large size, related operating costs will be charged separately, such as loading and unloading fees, crane fees, handling fees, etc.
- Less-than-truckload cargo refers to cargo that is consigned at one time and weighs less than the entire vehicle. The following goods are generally not allowed to be handled as general cargo: 1. Flammable, explosive, highly toxic and radioactive dangerous goods; 2. Fragile, polluting, perishable and live goods
- The following goods shall not be checked on Less-than-truckload:
- (1) Goods that need to be transported refrigerated, insulated or heated;
- (2) Dangerous goods that are required to be handled as a whole vehicle;
- (3) Contaminated goods that are prone to contaminate other goods (such as livestock bones, wet fur, feces, carbon black, etc. that have not been sterilized or not used in airtight packaging);
- (4) bees;
- (5) Goods whose number is difficult to count;
- (6) Live animals without containers (except those stipulated by the Railway Administration which can be transported within the pipeline as LTL);
- (7) A piece of cargo with a weight of more than 2 tons, a volume of more than 3 cubic meters, or a length of more than 9 meters (except those confirmed by the departure station that will not affect the transfer station and loading and unloading operations at the station).
- Organize direct LTL transportation within a dedicated line or a dedicated railway, and after the railway branch agrees, the station and the shipper will negotiate and sign an agreement to handle it; if the organization transfers LTL, it should be agreed by the railway bureau.
