What are the risk of vermiculite insulation?

Most vermiculus uses used for isolation in the US between twenty and early 90s contained a small but dangerous amount of asbestos. Insulation of vermiculite used in households built during this period and is sometimes launched under UONOLE®, usually contains 1-3 percent asbestos. This level represents a health risk if asbestos is inhaled, exposed to fibers, leading to serious respiratory diseases. These include various forms of cancer and asbestosa. There are a number of steps that house owners can take to reduce the health risks of the vermiculite containing asbestos. It develops in protective tissues surrounding internal organs such as lungs, heart, testicles and stomach. Most of the individuals who are diagnosed with mesothelioma had a profession in which the on the asbestos or glass particles. Many of these people either participated in mining, production or installation of insulation or asbestos vermiculite.

The asbestos exposure period that leads to the development of mesothelioma is sometimes quite short and includes only one to three months. The beginning of the disease often occurs long after exposure, almost never appears in less than 15 years, with most cases developing within 30 to 40 years. There is no direct relationship between mesothelioma and smoking; However, smoking increases the risks for the development of asbestos related diseases. Some cases occurred among family members of the asbestos staff, as well as in regions where asbestos naturally occurs.

asbestosis can also result from exposure to the vermiculite containing asbestos and result in severe inflammation and scarring of the lungs, leading to respiratory anxiety. It is considered to be a professional lung disease and usually occurs among those involved in mining, production or asbestos. Without proper protection, workers who remove asbestos are also at risk.

as with mesotelioThe appearance of asbestosis is often delayed decades after the exposure. Asbestosis often leads to the development of various forms of lung cancer, especially mesothelioma. There is no treatment for asbestosis; Most of the treatment is aimed at alleviating the patient's shortness of breath and reducing lung secretion that prevents breathing.

Asbestos exposure is necessary to avoid these diseases. If the vermiculite insulation must be disrupted due to repairs, rebuilding or removal, it is strongly recommended to use the air respirator with high efficiency (HEPA) along with eye and glove protection. The use of HEPA vacuum cleaner for cleaning is also recommended for plastic foil to prevent other parts of the building. The exposure or removal of a large amount of suspicious insulation of vermiculite should only be carried out by qualified asbestos removal suppliers.
