What is a fire hose?
The fire hose is a hose that has been designed to deal with very high pressure, so it can be used for rapid delivery of burning retardants. The fire hoses are extremely robust and strongly reinforced because they must be able to work on a pressure level that can reach 300 psi (20 bar), with a rupture point that can be up to four times higher. These hoses are sold by companies that produce firefighting equipment and can be quite expensive. The oldest version of the fire hose dates back to the 16th century, when the Dutch first developed this tool for a fire tool as a replacement for bucket brigades. Over time, the fire hose has developed to handle greater pressure, and hoses in a wide range of widths were available for various purposes.
To be easy to store, fire hoses are usually flat so that they can be folded or neatly inverted. One end of the hose is designed to connect to the water source, with some hoses have adapters to make indifferent taps. The other end of the hose has a nozzle that can be adjusted to modulate the strength of the water. When a fire hose is filled and the nozzle is open, the pressure to someone can suffice, and therefore firefighters often work in pairs or groups with a hose.
In large structures or devices susceptible to fire, fire hoses are often installed in suitable access points along the walls and connected to standpipe. If the fire breaks out, someone can open a partition in which the hose is located and on, quickly approach the water supply that can be used to occupy the fire. These fire hoses are classically folded in the style of accordion to facilitate deployment, even if some are mounted on the spindles.
Firefighters have free hoses that can be connected to fire hydrants or stands at the fire point, along with hoses that can be connected to the car itself, or tankers filled with water or retaining burning. Some fire trucks have hoses thatThey are designed so that they are always connected so that firefighters can pull out, jump, turn on the hoses and go.
This firefighting instrument is a critical part of the arsenal at the fire station. Firefighters regularly check their hoses to ensure that they are in good operation, replace or repair damaged hoses, as the damaged hose can be the main problem in fire.
