What Are the Cochlear Nuclei?
The cochlear nucleus refers to the nucleus of the nerve. It is located in the area between the brain stem near the pons and the medulla. It is mainly composed of anterior ventral nucleus, posterior ventral cochlear nucleus and dorsal cochlear nucleus. It is divided into left and right sides, and receives the impulses of the eighth pair of cerebral nerve cochlear branches from the left and right ear spiral ganglia. It is the termination point of all cochlear afferent nerve fibers and the place where first-level synapses occur in the auditory projection system. [1]
