What is the brain hemisphere?

The brain can be divided into two areas. The brainst is part of the brain extending down towards Misha. Cerebral hemispheres contain a wrinkled outer layer of brain, called the cortex and several deeper structures, including basal ganglia, hippocamp and amygdaloid core.

Cerebral hemispheres are controlled by the contrastral sides of the body, which means that the right brain hemisphere controls the left side of the body and vice versa. For example, sensory information from the right hand goes to the left brain hemisphere where it is processed. To move with the right hand, the signal must come from the left side of the brain and cross again.

A large bundle of nerves called corpus callosum connects the left and right brain of the hemisphere. Both hemispheres are not always completely symmetrical and can be somewhat specialized. For example, the Wernicke region and the Broca region, the two parts of the brain involved in speech, are located on the left brain hemisphere.

Hippocampus is connected to storage and search for memory. Amygdaloid cores control emotional reactions, especially emotions such as anger and fear.
