What is a sacral spine?

Sacral spine or fused triangular bone at the base of the spine. It is located just below the lumbar area and just above the coccyx or tail bone, where it anchor the pelvis to the spine. The grid does not move together until early adulthood, and if so, it is very difficult to break.

The sacral spine fits in the space between the two hip bones at the lower end of the spine. It connects to the last lumbar vertebra at the top of the cross, the coccyx at the bottom and the Ilium hip bones section on both sides. The sacral spine consists of five vertebrae, marked S1 via S5. However, at the age of 16 to 18, these vertebrae will begin to join. Usually at a time when a person reaches 26 years, sacral vertebrae joined into a single fused bone structure.

even after the fusion of the sacral spine in early adulthood, four openlygs remain where the joints joined together. These holes are called sacral foramin. Five sacral nerves leave the spine through sacral foramine into the intestines, bladder and genitals.

Sacral spine plays a key role in supporting the upper body and connecting to the lower body. From its position wedged between the hip bones, Sacrum stabilizes the entire pelvic belt. In this way, the sacral spine acts similarly to the key stone in the arch, transmits the weight of the structure of the human body at the top and distracts it through the pelvis and to the feet below.

As an anchor, the sacral spine is dense and does not easily break. Isolated sacral injuries are particularly rare. The cause of sacral fracture usually also leads to breaking in the bones of the surrounding pelvic belt. The three most common types of sacral fractures are tension fractures caused by and repeating the use of NTENSE, fractures of insufficiency cause osteoporosis and traumatic fractures caused by sudden traumatic events such as car accidents.

sacral fractures are present as pain, tenderness or numbness in the lower back or buttocks. PostThe story is the most common treatment of sacral fractures. A medical expert can also prescribe medicines to alleviate pain or sacral corset to stabilize injuries and provide comfort when he gets heal. Surgery may be necessary for heavy fractures where pieces of broken sacral spine move away.
