What is Maquilador?
Maquiladora is a Mexican corporation that operates in Maquila. This program is approved by a Mexican business secretariat and industrial development. The Maquila program entitles the company to temporarily import materials without paying the tax on the products they produce. These products are produced in Mexico, usually Mexican workers. They can be produced at highly reduced costs and then export and sell at a much higher price. This may include machinery, management equipment, parts and materials - virtually everything that supports the production process can be imported according to Maquila rules. Maquiladora must publish a bond stating that the imported device will not remain in Mexico permanently. Maquiladory products are usually exported by selling another exporter or Maquilador.
