What is the productivity of resources?
Source productivity concerns the amount of product or income created by a specific source. This source could be an individual or group of individuals, machine or entire production plant, depending on the reference framework. Source productivity has long been used in traditional business models to determine low productivity and areas that may require augmentation to continue to function at the current or higher productivity level.
When using in general companies, the productivity of sources is a multilateral process. It takes into account the amount of work carried out by each work and compares this number with minimal acceptable and average levels of production to ensure that the worker generates sufficient output to justify the cost of his employment. It also measures the output of workers to ensure that no employee creates more output than it is possible to produce adequately without ignoring quality control or safety processes. This methodology can be applied toA group of workers such as a department to ensure that the group as a whole meets productivity standards without risk injury or errors.
The same process is applied to the machinery. For example, if the company has three press presses, it will monitor the productivity of each computer. If there is only enough work to keep each machine in operation half the time, the company may consider selling one press, because the other two will be sufficient to meet the current needs and still have time for further work. Conversely, if each machine runs 22 hours each day and the manufacturer recommends running a maximum of 18 hours a day, it may be time to buy additional printing.
A similar methodology can be used to assess the productivity of the sources of whole plants or operations. If the manufacturer has three plants and two of them do not produce sufficient goods, covered the cost of operating, the company could decide to close JEden race and consolidate operations. While the company only has two plants, it does the same amount of business, but with about two thirds of the previous level of expenditure. When using the environment and sustainability, the productivity of resources becomes a different meaning. The concern is now not only with the fulfillment of the output quantities, but also with the evaluation of the impact of the work unit, whether it is a person or a machine, for the environment. This can be measured in terms of energy use and production, hazardous waste or other pollutants.
