Neonatal science is an important part of the field of pediatrics, with a strong professionalism, rapid development and increasing attention. With the continuous expansion of medical standards and the professional team of neonatal doctors, neonatal medical technology has made considerable progress, and has accumulated rich clinical experience. The rescue success rate of critically ill newborns and the survival rate of very low birth weight infants have been greatly improved. However, due to the strong professionalism of neonatal medicine and the requirement for a high level of medical equipment, some primary hospitals lack professional wards and physicians, so there are certain difficulties in handling newborns, especially critically ill newborns. As a pediatric professional doctor, the editor has witnessed for many years that many newborns have suffered from life-long disability and even death due to late medical visits and local medical conditions that have lost opportunities for effective treatment. In view of this, in order to make it easier for the majority of pediatric clinicians, especially pediatric workers in primary medical units, to systematically and comprehensively understand the basic theory, clinical diagnosis and treatment of neonatal diseases in a short time, we have written this book.
This book is divided into 15 chapters, from the basic parts of newborns, namely newborn classification, physical examination, gestational age assessment, nutrition, nursing, neonatal jaundice, etc., to the etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of common diseases in various systems. A more detailed introduction is given, focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of more common clinical diseases of newborns, and strive to achieve both the breadth of knowledge and clinical practicality, and reflect the development of contemporary neonatal science. In order to enable readers to master the knowledge and skills involved in the book conveniently and quickly, this book highlights the features of concise content, clear organization, logic and practicality. The "difficult reviews" throughout this book are the focus and essence of this book. They are the editor's many years of clinical experience and have the finishing touch. I hope to provide clinicians with reference in their work, inspire ideas, and expand their horizons.
The readers of this book are pediatric residents, fellow doctors, interns, nurses, and pediatric teachers and students. It is hoped that the publication of this book will help and guide the clinical practice of grassroots pediatricians. This book is written by multiple authors. These authors are responsible for heavy medical, teaching, and scientific research work. Due to the tight time of writing and the limited editor level, the inadequacies in the book are inevitable.
