The bursa of the medial metatarsophalangeal joint of the toe is swollen and painful, and may have red fever, tenderness, and combined with hallux valgus deformity.

Causes of foot bunion

Bunion bursitis is mostly secondary to hallux valgus deformity, which is the basis of the disease. Wearing high heels or narrow front, squeezing forefoot shoes, bearing weight or walking for a long time is the direct cause of bunion inflammation.

Clinical manifestations of foot bunion

The bursa on the medial side of the metatarsophalangeal joint of the foot and toe is swollen and painful, and the contents of the synovial fluid may be red fever, tenderness, and combined with valgus deformity.

Foot bunion inflammation treatment

Replace with low-heeled or flat-heeled shoes to reduce walking. Locally apply non-steroidal anti-inflammatory ointment and wipes for treatment. If recurrence occurs, surgery should be used to correct hallux valgus deformity, and inflammation bursa should not be simply removed.
