What is conjunctivitis?

conjunctivitis is more often referred to as pinkeye . In this state, the material covering the white part of the eye and lining the inner parts of the lid, called the conjunctiva , lit. This inflammation results in excessive tearing, pain and itching.

The condition is most often caused by a viral infection. This may also be caused by bacterial infection or allergies. There are rare causal factors in newborns and three to four weeks of old infants. The person can find out that after waking up in the morning his eyelashes were held because of this fluid. The white part of the eye will seem red or pink, hence the term Pinkeye. Generalinfection begins in one eye, but because it can be painful and itchy, children often scratch the infected eye and then touch the unaffected eye. The condition tends to jump from one child to another in the school environment and in families with more than one child.

ChildrenWith a viral or bacterial conjunctivitis, they should not go to school until they have been treated and are already considered contagious. Although frequent hand washing can help prevent its spread, it is not always feasible in the school environment. Viruses and bacteria can spread by one child that touches the other hand after touching his affected eye or uninfected child coming into contact with surfaces, paper or tissue that the infected child touched.

In the home environment, the child should be carefully monitored with this condition to prevent further spread of the infection. It is a good idea to cover any soft surfaces that the baby encounters and put the stuffed animals for several days. Supporting hands and careful observation of the child to see if it touches the affected eye, can reduce the spread to other family members.

common viruses such as annual flu or simple cold can cause viral conjunctivitis. The presence of inflammation should be a sign of alert humanKa, as in children, Pinkeye can often mean ear or sinus infection. Treatment of bacterial and viral forms are eye drops used twice or three times a day. The bacterial type is usually cleaned several days after treatment, but viral diseases may take up to two weeks.

bacterial conjunctivitis may be the result of preliminary viral conjunctivitis or can be exposed separately. Conventional bacteria associated with Pinekeye are Streptococcus and Staphylococcus. In rare cases, children passing through the birth canal can infect gonorrhea or chlamydia from a non -diagnosed mother. This type is much more serious because it can lead to permanent eye damage. Conjunctivitis in the newborn should always be reported to the doctor.

Three to four weeks old infants can also perform at Pinkeye when they blocked tears. If the condition persists, the short operation can open the tear channels to allow the eyes to drain the liquid. In most cases blocked tear channels do not require ChirUrgical procedure and tear pipe massage are used daily to reduce blockage.

Fortunately,

conjunctivitis caused by allergies is not contagious, but the doctor should still be consulted to find out that he is not of infectious origin. In most cases, this form treats the treatment of basic symptoms and reduce exposure to known allergens. Doctors are likely to prescribe antihistamines to reduce inflammation.

The

recovery time of allergic conjunctivitis depends on the efficacy of antihistamines and the ability to remove those affected by the histamin -provocative situation. Some with seasonal allergies each year with a little inflammation that decreases when allergens in the air become less common.
