What is recti diastasis?

Diastasis recti, which is also commonly known as abdominal separation, is a condition when the right and left side of the muscle covering the front of the abdomen, called the rectus of the abdomen. It is most common in newborns, especially children who were born prematurely or are from African American origin and pregnant women. Recti is usually just a cosmetic problem and is not usually dangerous or threatening life. It sits in the middle of the abdomen and runs approximately from the belly button to the breast. The size of the ridge depends on how much the muscle is stressed in a certain area. The comb can often be so fine that it can only be seen when the child is held in the sitting position.

In women in the early stages of pregnancy, symptoms of diastasis rectics may occur on the front wall of the abdomen as extra soft tissue and skin. It can develop into a bulge that differs in size, depending on the severity of the condition. In the most extreme cases, parts of the child can see how they push in the bulge while in JIt may be possible to see a part of the uterus.

Diastasis recti is a common state that can be diagnosed with a physical test and is not serious or life -threatening. If the patient has previously undergone surgery of the abdomen, the doctor will usually exclude an incision or epigastric hernia before diagnosis. Ultrasound can help clarify the diagnosis if this happens.

The condition usually recovers without intervention. Women who have gave birth can help accelerate the healing process with regular performances of exercises known as Tupler's technique. The most common complication is when the muscles grow. This is usually repaired by surgery.

Diastasis recticti is most often caused by excessive pressure on the abdominal wall during pregnancy. For this reason, women who are in the second trimester of pregnancy are generally not recommendedí or activity that results in an extended or strong tension in the abdomen. Repeated pregnancies or the transmission tension of multiple fruits can also increase the chances of obtaining a condition.
