What is a sensor node?
The
sensor node, which can also be referred to as a sensor or Mote, is part of a larger sensor network. Each sensor node in the network is responsible for collecting data about the environment around it and sending these data to processors on the network. Although the concepts that have led to the sensor node have existed for several decades, experiments in the National Aviation and Space Administration (NASA) and the University of California system at the end of the 90's and at the beginning of 2000 led to further development of this technology.
There are a number of different environmental conditions in which the sensor of the knot may change. Changes in temperature and pressure are some of the most common. Most sensor nodes are designed to detect changes that occur slowly, although modifications can be performed in data compression so that these sensors work in a high -speed environment. Some sets are designed to collect information only from a particular direction, while others, such as sensors used to detect radar signals, perform omnipotent sweeping. MeshOU to be designed to inconspicuously collect information, expected that data came to it, or can be designed to actively explore the information. The sensors of this second type may affect the environment it takes.
As soon as the sensor collects data, it transmits it throughout the network using a transceiver. These devices consist of a receiver and a transmitter and can send information wirelessly in several different ways. The use of lasers and infrared devices can be used to transfer data, although both of these ways of communication require a clear visual line from transceiver to other network components. Radio signals are commonly used when there is no sensor node inside the net with which they must communicate with.
Thesensor node also includes computer components that are instruction and store the data it collected. The node requires a power source, which is almost always a battery. Sensor nodes that do notThey are battery, they can be designed to run out of energy from the sun or vibration in the environment.
