What are the signs of Fentanyl overdose?

Fentanyl, strong opioid analgesics, was associated with many cases of overdose. Symptoms of fentanyl overdose differ from patient to patient, but in the course of cases some common symptoms are observed. These include strenuous or shallow breathing, skin clamm and extreme sedation. Overdose are most often observed at the beginning of the treatment with Fentanyl or at a time when the prescriber orders a significant change in dose. The level of overdose mortality increases if the person becomes unconscious than emergency assistance, and even in the hospital is one of the main concerns about the treatment of upward and cohesive. For example, Fentanyl may be administered through a transdermal patch that lets the patient receive painkillers continuously for a certain period of time. There are terrible consequences associated with the fact that they do not follow the dosage of instructions with this way of administration. Patients overdose when they forget to remove the patch when they are instructed or if they cut the patch to SNThey gave the dosage without first talking to a doctor. In this case, the cut patch loses the functionality of the delayed release and will lead the patient to receive a large dose of fentanyl at once.

Transdermal patch can also cause unforeseen overdose of fentanyl in other ways. Studies have shown that the increase in body temperature will result in drugs to the body significantly higher. There were numerous cases of overdose with fentanyl, which were caused by the patient involved in strenuous exercise that increased its basic body temperatures sufficiently high enough to affect the patch. It is recommended that the patient be involved in exercise or other activities such as sunbathing to be a patch of removed. Another problem is that patches can be unknowingly transferred to another person that is not prescribed medication, usually close contact in the body or sharing bathroom devices.

It is important that it is assumed that an overdose of Fentanyl will be immediately asked for emergency care. Despiratory depression is one of the main symptoms of overdose. In acute overdose situations, the patient may have the respiratory frequency as slowly as four to six breaths per minute. This slowed breathing can lead to severe hypoxia and brain damage may occur quickly if it is not solved. Sometimes opiates, such as fentanyl, slow down the emptying of the gastrointestinal tract, so the extent of overdose may not be known for some time.
