What Is Actinomycin?
It is a mixture produced by Streptomyces chrysomallus. The main components are C1, C2, C3 and D. Rubia red or orange yellow crystalline powder. Soluble in ethanol, acetone and benzene. The effect is similar to that of dactinomycin, and it has a broad antitumor spectrum. In addition, it has a strong antibacterial, fungal and viral effect. It is mainly used in children with Hodgkin's disease, nephroblastoma and leukemia. The toxic and side effects are similar to those of dactinomycin, which are mainly myelosuppression and gastrointestinal reactions. Advanced malignant tumors, low red blood cells and low white blood cells and pregnant women are contraindicated.
